I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think the 4th of July is my favorite holiday! I think that's especially true living in a small town. This year marked Perry's Centennial. They've had lots of activities throughout the year and the big party happened on the 4th. They even had fireworks for the first time so we were able to enjoy two shows that weekend!

I had ran my first 5K the week before in a couch potato to 5K program I did with our Relief Society. I didn't train as much as I liked, but I did lots better than I imagined I would. Josh was sweet and came and ran it with me. He such a great support like that. So, for the 4th I signed up the whole family to run the 5K...even Gage. Josh pushed Brynn in the stroller and the boys kicked our butts! Gage was first in his age division and I think the only other 6 year old besides his cousin Maren and TJ came in third. I just finished. :) They had a raffle after and TJ won a Perry City hoodie, I won cotton candy and Gage won a free breakfast!
Josh participated in the softball tournament again this year. His team had their final game Monday at 8:00. So, he had to go play that immediately after our race.

The boys showing off their ribbons.
We stayed the entire morning until the parade at 11:00. I wished I went home to change and hated sitting around in my sweaty clothes. The kids loved the parade, as usual. Most especially Gage! This is my 10th parade attendance and Its been crazy to see how much the festivities have grown since our family rode it it so many years ago. I counted 58 entries this year! Elder L. Tom Perry was a special guest in the parade and spoke at a fireside the night before.

We took it easy the rest of the afternoon. We took a nap and tried out a new chicken Taquito recipe. About 8:00 we left for Brigham to watch the fireworks. We went to our usual location and met Shane and Angi's family there.

Brynn hated the firework show in Perry the night before. We wised up this time and brought her some muffs. They saved the day and she liked it this time.

Gotta get that traditional family picture on the lawn.
