Weber Wrestling Tournament

Saturday, November 19, 2011

The boys both enter the Weber Wrestling Tournament this year. I said before that Gage had not been wanting to go to practice lately, so we were surprised that he wanted to compete. I was downright scared for him. I had never seen him at practice before and this would be his first time wrestling at a Saturday tournament. He was insistent though and did very well! They wrestle in a round robin and wrestle in groups of 4 so they each wrestle each other in the group. His first match was the toughest. The kid was very good! He lost that match, but put up a good fight. The next match was the closest. They were tied at the very end and Gage wasn't able to win that one. His last match was great, he won with ease. I told Josh he just needed to get warmed up a bit! The kid who one made both the other boys cry, we told Gage he was very brave to do so well against him. He ended up with the bronze metal at the end. I'm thinking the metal was why he wanted to wrestle that day! Couldn't be prouder of my Gator!

TJ is a wrestling ANIMAL! He is such a tough, determined kid. I was nervous for the kids he was wrestling against! :)

.happenings.

I guess the boys were bored after football season ended and needed something to do, so they signed up for wrestling. Practices seemed SO laid back compaired to football. Twice a week and meets on Saturday's, easy. Josh is in heaven. He wrestled in high school and of course he helped coach. They all went and bought new wrestling shoes (Josh included) and looked forward to going every week. I had to take the boys a few times to practice, phew...what a stinky, sweaty place! Gage wavered a little on wanting to go, for the most times he did, but he did have some times he refused to go. We pushed him a little only because he signed up and committed, but not enough to make him hate it! It seemed like there was always a wrestling match on the living room floor after practices to show me what they learned, sigh.

I was in charge of the craft for Gage's class fall party this year. We made these cute turkey cookies. They were a hit!

I sent Katie this picture of my french braid attempt on Brynn. She wrote back and said "keep trying" Haha. Brynn has wanted braids in her hair alot lately, gives me lots of practice which I obviously need.
