I've been having contractions for over a month now. The Dr. told me to just watch it and when they start to sit down, drink some water to help them go away. He said if I started to get more than 6 in an hour, to call him.
Monday night I did all I could to get them to stop and they wouldn't. I started to time them and they were every 6-7 minutes. I started to get nervous when my back started to ache after two hours of this. It also made me nervous because I've never had them this bad...this early in any other pregnancy anyway. I didn't feel like it was an emergency, I wasn't bleeding or anything. So I just decided to get in bed and try to go to sleep. That way I would stop worrying. I woke up about 4 time that night (not unusual) and once at about 3 am I woke up with another contraction!
I called the Dr. first thing Tuesday morning and they told me to come right in. I was given a pre term labor test called Fetal Fibronectin. It was a swab test (kinda like a pap smear) that they send to a lab to see if i was leaking, as my Dr. put it "a type of glue that holds your bag of waters to your cervix". If it was positive, you have a very likely chance of going into labor within TWO WEEKS! Crazy. He also did an internal and said my cervix was still closed (whew) but that it was "pretty soft" and it was a good thing I came in. I got a script for some medication to help stop contractions if I have trouble stopping them on my own. If it came back positive, I'd more than likely have to go in and have a steriod shot to get the baby ready to be born. I guess it speeds up their lung maturity which would help if they were born early.
I got a call from him late Tuesday and was told my test was negative! I was so excited and told him I don't want to meet this little girl for at lest 2 more months! It also gave me assurance that maybe this is just how my body works? My uterus just likes to give my babies lots of hugs. :) At least I now know I don't have a very likely chance of going into labor so soon. He wants to start seeing me every two weeks now and will test me again if I'm still having problems.
I tried my new medication today and I think it's helped some. I am feeling very sore, no doubt from the constant contraction ball I've had going on in my belly.
Well That Was Awkward!

I can't believe it!! I'm SO glad it came back negative and that everything else looked ok! Give your belly a good "hug" for me too!!
I'm glad everything is ok. That is scary. We need to see a picture of your preg belly!
Thank heavens!!!!!!!!! I know I'm going to see you tomorrow morning but I couldn't help leaving a comment about that! Hope you'll feel better soooon! You're a tough girl!
Can't wait to see your preg belly!
That does not sound like fun, I know we always say we want our babies to come early but not at the expense of a NON healthy baby. I am glad that everything went OK. Good luck with the contractions.
Not to scare you but I had a preterm labor test done with Austin b/c of early contractions and it came back negative but he still was born 2 weeks later. But they didn't give me any medication to stop contractions so I am sure everything will be just fine! I can't believe she is due in 2 months-time is flying! Any cute prego pics for posting?
I am glad that you seem to be doing better. I am glad that I got a chance to talk to you last night!
