.temple square.

Saturday night we traveled to Salt Lake to attend Josh's cousins wedding reception in West Jordan. I told Josh I really wanted to try and take the kids to see the lights at Temple Square this year. The month has been so busy, I worried that we might not make it down and when I knew we'd attend the reception, it was a perfect time to do both. I wanted to take Front Runner down...anyone do this before?

It was crazy busy. We found a parking spot about a block and a half away, so the walk wasn't too bad. We got their about 5pm and the lights weren't even on yet. We ran up to see the Christus statue first and by the time we finished the lights were on.

And just for fun and because I'm feeling so organized with my pictures...
Family picture February 2003.
Jenn, this was when we were down for you and Tyler's sealing. The last time were saw the statue...almost 6 years ago. TJ was born about a week after this was taken.

Josh's sister and our nephew came down with us. Here's a picture around the fountain. Note the matching boots!

Aunt Tausha gave the boys a penny to throw in the fountain. This picture was taken right after TJ threw his...clear over the fountain, sigh.

Here's little miss miss. She's snug as a bug in a rug.

family picture minus Brynn.

the statues in the reflecting pond were new to us.

We hadn't been to see the lights in over two years. I always want to go every year, but I had an epiphany this year. Its cold and SO crowded...this is a perfect every couple of years tradition, not every year. Its too stressful trying to keep track of the kids in the crowds, I am glad we went though.

We went to the reception right afterwards. I have a funny story about that. The couple had a receiving line and shortly after we got there it ended and they had dancing and a program. We stayed awhile. The bride was getting ready to throw her bouquet and TJ asked me what they were doing. I told him that it was said that whoever catches the bouquet, is the next one to get married. He had a confused look on his face. It was a big too do and right before she threw it I noticed Gage run up to the front to see what was going on. TJ sees him leave and books it up to him, grabbed him by the arm and pulled him back to me. He had a pretty frightened look on his face and I asked him what was the matter. He said "Mom, I had to go get Gage...I didn't want him to get those flowers and have to get married!"

TJ is just so cute..that made me laugh. I'm glad you got to see the lights..it is fun but always SO cold and hectic. Even when we lived a block away, we didn't brave it.

I love the pictures! And that is way too funny what TJ said! We went the Saturday after Thanksgiving when my mom was here, that was "opening night" of turning the lights on, it was SO crowded, we rode the frontrunner down which made it so nice not to have to deal with traffic. Oh and then I forgot my camera, ughh!!
