.getaway.

Mom mentioned awhile back that she wanted to have the kids sleep over. I jumped on the opportunity to book Josh and I a room downtown. All this happened right before Christmas so I printed the card above and gave it to Josh in his stocking. We dropped the kids off Saturday afternoon. They were so excited about their stay with Grandma.

We first stopped at our nieces Megan and Sophie Mom's wedding reception in Sandy.

Next we stopped by Tyler and Janis' home to see our new niece baby Kate.

I added this picture only because it was taken at the same time. I was finally able to get down and have Katie cut and color my hair. She hooked me up with a fun new accessory, feathers! You can kinda see them in this picture. Its fun to have a sister who does hair! Josh now calls me Pocahontas!

We then drove straight downtown and checked into our room. It was HUGE! Very, very nice accommodations. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

I booked their "Getaway Package" It included the tower room, welcome gift (above) and a dinner/food credit. Fun.

We decided to take Trax over to Temple Square where we had dinner reservations at the Roof. It was freezing cold.

We were a little early so we walked around Temple Square for a minute.

Once inside the Joseph Smith building we quickly realized that their was a wedding trade show going on. Lots of vendors so we decided to roam around a minute. Josh took off his wedding ring and we pretended to be an engaged couple. We stopped at a Bed, Bath and Beyond booth where a lady came up to us and asked us "when is the big day?" I giggled and said it was June 15th (our anniversary). She tried to get us to register but we politely said no. Josh quickly put back on his wedding ring and said enough of that...he couldn't stand to lie anymore! :)

We purchased a Book of Mormon and a case for TJ at the Distribution Center. It will be for his Baptism next in March. We had his name engraved on the front.

We called the night before and made reservations for 5pm. We were one of the first couples seated and we had a spectacular window seat! The food was buffet style and delicious. I swear they had 30 different desserts and between the two of us...we tried them all!

This was the view from my seat! It was a beautiful night, no inversion. We could see forever!

We did a little shopping before we went back to the hotel. We checked out the pool and sat in the hot tub. We stayed up late watching cable and ordered room service at 11pm!

The next morning we didn't wake till 9:00! HEAVEN! We ate breakfast at the Coffee shop downstairs. After we walked across the street to the Grand America and looked around.

We stopped at the La Bonne Vie (their fancy French Pastry shop) and got Mom a gift of French Macaroons as a thank you gift.

We rushed home to the kids where Josh was just able to hug them goodbye before his ride came to pick him up to head out of town for the week. He was at the Glen Canyon Dam again. It was hard to let him go for the week after our fabulous weekend!
