.our road trip.

Our 10th Anniversary is coming up this summer. I told Josh I really wanted to plan a trip, just the two of us to celebrate! We talked about where we wanted to go, Mexico, the Caribbean, I finally decided I really wanted to take Josh on a cruise. We looked into booking something, but never booked anything. I knew we wanted to go in the Spring. We figured it would be easier to leave our kids when they would be busy most of the day with school. At the first of the year, we made some pretty big goals for ourselves, one of which was to pay off our van. We met that goal and paid it off in February! After that our finances were dwindled and we decided maybe we could just go on a road trip instead of flying to somewhere tropical. We had some rewards points saved up from our credit card and after researching, I found out we could mostly pay for all our hotel rooms that way! Then it was deciding where to go. In the end, we decided to head South! St. George would be our first stop on our week long vacation, with no kiddos!

It took alot of coordinating to get our childcare covered while we would be gone. Mom came and stayed the weekend two nights, then Shane and Rachael had them for 5 full days, and finally Grandpa watched them while we headed home. Whew! I started getting major anxiety about leaving them, but traveling by car and not being too far from home helped ease some of my anxious feelings.

We left right before lunch time on Friday, April 15th. I reminded Josh that April 15th is a very important date for us! We got engaged on Easter Sunday which fell on April 15th 10 years ago, so the timing was perfect!

Our drive down was nice. We drove through some yucky traffic in Utah County, stopped for gas in Payson and checked out a motorcycle outlet store we always talk about stopping at.

As we got closer to St. George, we saw some signs for Cove Fort in Millard County. I told Josh we should stop. I remembered hearing that missionaries were called to this spot and that there was tours available.

We stopped and were immediately greeting by and older gentleman serving his mission from Oregon. We watched a 15 minute movie on the Fort and then on a 25 minute personal walking tour. I loved it!

After our stop we kept on heading south towards Cedar City. We ended up calling Josh's cousin Vickie on a whim to see if we could stop by and say hi. She's always so nice and welcoming when we see her at family functions and has asked us to stop by if we are ever in the area multiple times! So, we pretty much stopped by announced only giving her about 20 minutes till we got to her home. She and her husband Mike were so nice to stop and buy stuff for hamburgers on their way home from work. They fed us a yummy dinner and we played a few games of Bocce Ball before we headed out on our last leg to St. George.
