.brigham purple vs. kaysville.

TJ's first game of the season was on August 20th in Kaysville. Greg and Tausha had their baby boy Zackary the day before so we left a little early to pay them a visit at the hospital before. My new nephew is just adorable! The boys are to be at the game an hour early for some last minute practicing and also so they have time to be weighed.

I was surprised at how nervous I was for them to play. It all hit me at once and I just felt like bawling the whole time. I was nervous for TJ. He'd been practicing the Quarterback position and Running Back. He also plays Wing Back on defence too. I just wanted him to do well and be proud of himself. I also was a nervous wreck with all the boys plowing into each other and tackling.
The first game didn't go too well. We were down by quite a bit at the half and sometimes it looked as though they didn't know what they were doing, which for the most part...I don't think they did.
My other monkeys kept each other entertained while TJ played.

Half time.

Josh had the brilliant idea to put TJ's name on the back of his helmet. Its pretty easy to spot him on the field now.
Then, a miracle happened. Our team executed a perfect play and TJ ran the ball in for an 80 yard touchdown!!! I was clear on the other end of the field so my pictures aren't great, but we scored our first touchdown of the season!!! It was toward the end of the game and I was so happy that we were able to score when it honestly didn't look like we were going to be able too. Once he ran in the goal, I just cried. I was so proud of him and it was so neat to hear everyone cheering and yelling his name.

At the end of the game our defensive coach handed out 3 stickers to the kids he thinks worked the hardest and played the best that game. TJ was awarded the first sticker!

Even though we lost, we were pretty excited about the games events. TJ was so excited he practically glowed. One thing it made me sure of is that I need to get a longer zoom lens.
