.20 weeks.

The babies 20 week ultrasound was scheduled the Monday we got home from our trip, February 6th. I scheduled it for 2:00pm so that Josh would be awake and could go to the hospital with me. We took Brynn and Will with us too. The tech asked if we knew what the baby was and if we wanted to know. Josh and I had the discussion before we left that we still wanted to wait to be surprised and that we needed to stay strong, so we told her we didn't want to know. She told us to turn our heads when she placed the wand on my belly. Josh didn't look away, he said he wouldn't know if he saw anything anyways. Our baby is darling, and moving and kicking away. I laughed because Brynn and Will looked bored to tears. I think it was hard for them to make out anything that looked like a baby on the screen. Towards the end Josh asked the tech if she knew what the babies gender was. She said she didn't, she says if the parents don't want to know, she tries not to know either. They don't check gender as part of their checklist, which I didn't know. At the end we asked if the baby looks healthy. She said yes, and then said that the babies kidneys are dilated and we'd probably have to come back to check that. My heart sank. Amy's baby has shown some signs of potential problems with his kidneys. She's been seeing a specialist and has had multiple ultrasounds showing that her baby might have a second ureter or cysts on his. The fact that our babies kidneys needed another check to made me so nervous. Josh took the kids home and I killed a little bit of time before I had my regular doctor appointment. I called Amy. Thank goodness for my appointment with my Doctor because he made me feel alot better. He did another ultrasound and said that yes, the baby has dilated kidneys but that they weren't big enough to make him worry. He told me if he had reason to worry he'd tell me and that he felt like things would be fine. When I first went back to see him he said "your having a boy, right?" Um...I don't know I told him. He said oh yes, your waiting...but that more often than not, babies showing signs like mine was were boys! I laughed not knowing if I just found out what my baby is or not? For the record, I still think its a girl! ;)
He said he didn't think I needed to see a specialist and that he'd just monitor the baby's kidneys himself.

Brynn was the very first person besides me to feel the baby move. Right after her Gage and Dad felt it too! They seemed much more excited after that!

Brynn also tell me she has a baby in her tummy too!
