This pregnancy, just like all my others I had contractions all the time. Braxton hick or practice contractions...but I have them everyday. It gets worse when I don't drink enough water and they seem to slow down when I can sit down and relax. Brynn's birthday I started getting painful contractions all day and I thought for a minute Brynn would get a baby brother or sister for her 4th birthday. Saturday, June 2nd I had contractions all day like usual. By the time bedtime rolled around they were getting more and more frequent and painful. Usually, my contractions aren't painful, so this was concerning. We went to bed and I awoke THREE separate times with intense pain. We timed my contractions and they were 5 minutes or less apart. I reluctantly made the decision to head to the hospital around 4am. The kids were still sleeping and if it wasn't labor hopefully we'd be back in time for the kids to wake up. The worst part was I had to teach the Relief Society lesson that day! I was hooked up and monitored for a few hours. My Doctor was out of town so we waited to see if there was any change. There was none. The nurse put a call into the on call doctor. I told the nurse I wanted to go home if they weren't going to help things along. I was 36 weeks 5 days. The nurse said I can't go home because I was having regular contractions 3-5 minutes apart for hours. Ugh. The doctor ordered a shot of tributaline. They explained if it was true labor it would stop my contractions and we could go home. Well it didn't stop them, but slowed them way down. Enough to where I could go home. Josh had left about 6:30 to be with the kids and sent them to church with Shane and Rachael before coming back with me. The medication made me very sleepy. We were dismissed around noon to go home and I was able to sleep for most of the day. At my regular appointment the next day my doctor tells me. "why did they give you tributaline?...I wouldn't have given you that!" Grrrr....
