.mud, mud, more mud.

The city puts on a mud rally as part of the July 4th celebrations. The information we got said it was to be held last Saturday. We were able to see the track from our front yard so we checked and never saw anyone there. Monday Josh comes home from work and says it was being held tonight and they could still sign up. We decided last minute to go ahead and sign both Josh and TJ up. The entrance fee was $5 and they got to ride down the track twice, once on both sides. It was miserably hot with no shade, but we bought some drinks and survived. I was so nervous for TJ, when they called his age group. There were lots of people in attendance and he's still so little. But, with hands shaking I grabbed my video camera and before I knew it they were off! He made it about halfway down before his bike stalled. Josh tired desperately to get it started again, but in the end another rider let him borrow their 4-wheeler to ride in the next race. He did great on that one and made it all the way through. He was so proud of himself and we couldn't help but be proud too.

I love this view, so beautiful

right before TJ's race

afterwards...what a happy boy.

Dad's turn. He raced right after TJ.
I was bummed because I thought I could get back into the stands to get some better shots. Oh well. click to see larger.

Josh got to race 4x, guess they just go too fast?

Afterwards they did a "Dash for Cash" race for the kids. They had a donation bucket and afterward split the money and gave it to the winners. TJ was in the younger group.

way to go TJ!

At the end they had a raffle drawing for all the participants in the rally. TJ was chosen to draw names for the prizes. He pulled out Josh's name for a $25 gift certificate to the Honda store. He has the best luck of anyone I know.

Oh, and TJ got $2 for coming in 2nd place in the Dash for Cash.
