.flaming gorge!!!!

Out of the blue, Josh called me Thursday and said he had a trip planned for us! He and Rick booked us a room for 3 nights at Flaming Gorge! He said they have lots and lots (UGH!) of out of town work coming up and we should take a trip beforehand. I was so excited, I've been wanting to plan a trip all summer, but really didn't know where to go. We left Sunday morning and drove the 3+ hours to our destination. Josh said he had been there once before, I've never been there and it was so exciting going some place new!

After we arrived and got checked into our room, we explored a little bit. First we went to find my sister Katie's camp with her boyfriend Zac and his family. It was perfect timing to see her. They plan a yearly trip here and we happened to go at the exact same time she did. After finding her and seeing where she was staying we drove up top to a beautiful lookout point. There was pathways and fences and the view was incredible. My fear of heights was in full gear and I was stressing the whole time that someone would fall off the edge. I think I might enjoy such a place if ever my kids weren't with me!

The lake is HUGE! I wasn't even sure where Flaming Gorge was on a map before we went.

After being at the top, we drove all the way down to a dock near our hotel. We soon realized that there wasn't much beach to be found and the shores were very rocky.

We stayed and played in the water for awhile and watched the sunset.

This boat launch site had gas pumps and a floating deli restaurant.

Like I said before about the rocks...the kids spent most of our time here throwing them in. By the time our trip was over TJ was really good at skipping rocks.

On the drive back we spotted a herd of deer Mommies and their babies. One even had twins!

Home sweet home! Our suite was nice. It had a separate bedroom and full kitchen.

The boys shared the sofa couch in the front room.
